Joseph A. Denson is a native of Albany, Georgia. In 1984, he came to Meridian, MS and received a public education, from Kindergarten through graduation with Honors from the Meridian High School in 1998.
He received his Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Political Science from Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi. While at Tougaloo College, he was the President of the Rubeun V. Anderson, Pre-Law Society.
He went on Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University, cum laude Houston, Texas. As a research assistant in law school, he assisted in drafting and editing a Yale International Law and Policy Law Review Article, Avena and The World Court’s Death Penalty Jurisdiction in Texas: Addressing the Odd Notion of Texas’s Independence From the World, 23 Yale L. &POL’Y455(2005).
Attorney Denson is a the principal and founding member of the Law Office of Denson and Associates, PLLC. Additionally, he was a public defender for the City of Meridian, MS from 2006-2017. He is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts of both Mississippi.
Attorney Denson is a member of the American Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar Association, the Lauderdale County Bar Association, and the former member of the Young Lawyers Association of Lauderdale County, Mississippi, Board Member of The Boys and Girls Cub of East Mississippi. Attorney Denson is a member of the NAACP.
In 2005, Joseph married the love of his life, Bridgette L. Denson of Dothan, Alabama. Joseph and Bridgette have been now happily married for over 19 years. Joseph and Bridgette have 3 children, Joseph, Jr. (10), Josiah (8) and Jackson (5). He is a member of Meridian Holiness Deliverance Church were he faithfully serves as Assistant Pastor and Minister of Music.
